Our Assessments

We offer a selection of Social Work Assessments, including:

Parenting Assessments

Our Parenting Assessments offer invaluable insights into the protective capacity of non-abusing parents or carers, identifying key safeguarding concerns. These assessments focus on various factors, including lack of awareness, failure to accept responsibility, parental vulnerability, and other critical issues that may hinder the ability to provide safe and protective care for children. Conducted by experienced assessors, these evaluations incorporate an educative element, aiming to enhance the non-abusing parent or carer's understanding. This guidance is crucial in fostering a more protective environment for children.

Connected Carers Assessment

Our Connected Carers Assessments are conducted within the framework of the Public Law Outline, ensuring compliance with the Revised Agenda (26-week rule) in child care proceedings. We have extensive experience assisting Local Authorities in completing a significant number of these assessments, helping to keep cases on the 'standard' track and within the critical 26-week deadline. These assessments focus on the often-contentious issue of contact, carefully examining the nature of the child's relationships with both the carer and the birth parent, both in the past and moving forward. By involving family members in the assessment process, we aim to develop viable kinship care arrangements that support the child's best interests.

Special Guardianship Assessment

We are available to complete Special Guardianship Reports in complex child care cases across the UK. Our expertise lies in safely and effectively recommending family members as 'special guardians,' especially in situations where adoption or long-term placements outside the family were initially considered the only viable options. Our reports are characterised by their detail, analytical depth, and evidence-based approach. We take pride in our 100% track record for meeting deadlines, ensuring that our assessments are timely and reliable.

Together and Apart Assessments

The Together or Apart Assessment is a specialised sibling assessment that evaluates whether it is in the best interest of children to live together or separately. This assessment carefully considers various factors, including the needs and relationships of the children, as well as the associated risks and strengths of both living arrangements. Typically, this assessment is part of the decision-making process regarding the potential removal of a child from their family home or to inform a comprehensive care plan. The primary aim is to ensure that any proposed plan serves the best interests of each child involved, as well as the sibling group as a whole.

Form F Assessments

Commonly known as the fostering assessment, this is a comprehensive and detailed report that examines every aspect of a prospective foster parent's life and circumstances. Completing this assessment is a mandatory requirement for all foster parents in the UK. This thorough assessment is designed to evaluate the suitability of the prospective foster parent for fostering, as well as to determine if fostering is the right choice for them. The process involves multiple visits to the home, or video calls if necessary, during which a dedicated assessing social worker conducts in-depth interviews with the prospective carer. A variety of questions are posed to gather all pertinent information needed to compile the Form F report.

MCA and Best Interest Assessments

This is a crucial evaluation conducted under the Mental Capacity Act, focusing on ensuring that decisions made on behalf of individuals who may lack the capacity to make those decisions themselves are in their best interests. This assessment involves gathering comprehensive information about the individual's needs, preferences, and values, as well as considering the potential benefits and risks associated with different options. The assessment process may include consultations with family members, carers, and healthcare professionals to gain a holistic understanding of the individual's circumstances. The primary goal is to ensure that any actions taken or decisions made align with what the individual would have wanted, had they been able to express their wishes.
